Project brief
The goal
Replace the store's expired Squarespace site with one that feels like the shop, tells people when the doors are open and lets the owner put inventory online from his phone as he prices it.
What it is
A hand-coded WordPress and WooCommerce site for a record and vintage store in Bismarck, North Dakota, with pages for the store, its CD and record cleaning service and a visit page with live hours, plus a private staff area for inventory, price stickers and the register.
Built for
In-store shoppers · Record cleaning · Inventory and sales
SEO
Hand-written titles and descriptions on every page, MusicStore structured data with the address, coordinates and opening hours, share cards for every page, and a shop that stays out of search until it has items, with sold items taken out as they sell.
What we built
- A retro design in the colors of the store's logo, with custom illustrations of records, cassettes and a turntable
- A live open or closed badge and today's hours, worked out in the store's own time zone
- A visit page with the hours, a map, directions and a contact form that saves every message and emails the store
- A staff tool for adding items from a phone photo, with automatic item numbers and barcode price stickers
- A register in the staff area that scans stickers with the phone camera or a Bluetooth scanner, takes discounts and sends card payments to the Square Terminal
- A WooCommerce shop that fills itself from the staff tool, with category pages and a slide-out cart for pickup orders
